Proactive contacting customers before charging
I appreciate the fact that they reached out to me letting me know of my auto-renewal 30 days in advance. This gave me time enough to actually take action if I wanted to. I wish more companies would do this, but it seems like many are just dependent on you forgetting and accidentally paying. I appreciate the platform. (I did renew.)

Absolute trash website design.
A fantastic concept soiled with a frustrating interface and offensive payment scheme.

The website is absolute trash to navigate but the worst part is trying to find out how much the actual service costs. On the main page it offers 7 days free and then a solid years payment after that, so it's kind of important to know how much that's going to be. is it £39.99? is it £159.99? No idea. Not even a vague one.
Seaching the website for 5 minutes, I finally found a page titled "What does Skillshare cost?" located in the Help Center". Firstly - this is not "help". This is basic and necessary information. Secondly, it doesn't even tell what the costs are! It literally just says "get started for free - all you need is an email address. Create an account for pricing". You stick so many cookies in my browser that you for sure know where I am, so you can just show me the price without me giving you my email address and card details just like that.

I went to Google and typed in "how much does Skillshare cost", and I'm still none the wiser. I see many answers ranging from "$167.88 per year" to "£5.99 per month" and nothing specific from the website itself.

This kind of approach is like cancer of service. You need to be clear with potential customers how much things cost before they sign up. Obviously, no? Why should I sign up just to see the costs? You've completely turned me and my partner away and I will not be recommending.

I can completely understand why your rating is so low. I'm honestly surprised it's not lower.

Horrid, horrible, absolutely awful and corrupt
Horrid, horrible, and absolutely awful. Awful! They are falsely advertising that you can easily become a teacher on the platform. The do provide links to examples of how to do this. But it lacks information and there is no communication or review process. Basically you post your course live immediately which sets you up for errors right away and then a system reviews it, if they find a flaw they send you a robotic form e-mail claiming you have committed fraud or a very serious violation. They also lie to you. So they have you provide your social security number and your tax information, your billing information and more demographic info about you. Then they flag you and will not allow you to access their platform, you will be sent ridiculous e-mails from randoms with Indian names. Beware of this platform, they now have a lot of data and financial info on people. I am hearing people's credit cards are being fraudulently charged and used...I created a course and they claimed I was a fraud after providing my tax info and my passport... They then searched me online through several pathways...I Verified my info and then they proceeded to close my entire account. I have been a member since 2012 or since they started! There was absolutely no communication whatsoever and now I can't access my data to retrieve it off the platform. Do not use this platform and do not trust them.

They advertise 1 mth Risk free trial...then take a 1 yr subscription fee after 2 wks of signing up!
They DO NOT reply to any message.

and the worst part, 1 tutorial I watched, the Maths was wrong!!
I beleive they are a US company, but the tutorials I watched appear to be Indian...and some have a heavy accent and NOT understandable.

BE VERY VERY CAREFULL....BUYER BEWARE!

I felt compelled to leave a review…
I felt compelled to leave a review after seeing so many poor ratings which I feel are not true. I didn't realise my free trial was over, I did not get the email from them to warn me I was about to be charged, however as soon as I saw the charge on my account I contacted their support. I was not ready to use it. So I asked for cancellation and a refund. They offered me a discount on the yearly rate to begin with in order to keep me as a customer. I knew I wasn't going to use it so I asked for a full refund which was immediately offered. When I am ready I will go back to them and use them.

They use abusive practices when renewing and cancelling the subscription. They automatically renew the anual membership without previously informing you. On top of that, even if you notice the payment and even if you are in the first month they do not agree on refunding the payment of the whole year.
Unacceptable.

Whole thing is a scam
Whole thing is a scam - got charged for an account that isn’t even attached to my email! Tried contacting customer service but they were super unhelpful.

Got charged for a year which makes no sense as the “account” I apparently have access to isn’t even my email address. Only notice the charge as I was doing some expenses otherwise I would have probably been charged again for an account I don’t have and content I wouldn’t want access to as I’m a student who can access other free resources like LinkedIn learning instead.

From reading other reviews I feel like the consensus is the same and that skillshare only profits off scams and praying on the innocent otherwise they would have standard security measures like account verification, card verification, or send reminders which from reading other people’s comments they don’t do.

Terrible Customer Service and Sneaky Practices
After using Skillshare for several years under a monthly plan, they booted me out of the plan without any notice. Then, every time I logged in, I was pointed to a screen where I had no choice but to subscribe to a costly annual plan. When I contacted customer service they were incredibly unhelpful and pretended like I just suddenly wasn't a subscriber anymore and that there was no wrong on their end. I imagine that Skillshare must suddenly want to convert their earlier monthly members who were paying $9.99 a month to yearly members and this was a sneaky, incredibly unprofessional way to go about it. I can't imagine how many members they have upset with this bizarre move.

Was duped in to paying the full year
Was duped in to paying the full year, which is very expensive at a very inconvenient time. By the time I realised, your policy regarding refunds expires extremely fast so I missed the refund expiration. Usually companies are quite forgiving when mistakes are made to maintain a good public image, especially with how expensive it is.
Skill share doesn't seem to care about that at all, and are probably relying on peoples carelessness to keep their company books in the green.
I've cancelled my membership obviously after not utilising a single one of their services, and now I worry they will try and charge me again just like they did others.

My daughter signed up for the free…
My daughter signed up for the free trial. They never said anywhere that she would be signing up for a year. This was a year ago. At that time, she told them she wasn't happy with it but her trial period ended, can she still get her money back and that she wants to CANCEL her membership (obviously). They did refund her money but they never canceled her membership and a year later was charged again! In her correspondence with them through email, they kept skirting around the issue and said they can't refund her twice. They ignored the fact that she shouldn't have been charged to begin with since SHE CANCELED previously. In their email back to her, they even gave a direct quote from her from her first email a year earlier asking for a refund that said (in her own words) for them to cancel her membership. They quoted her asking them to cancel! I wrote to them then and they and told them all this and they never responded. They are SCAMMERS!
